  • 2008 NBA Playoffs Conference Semi-Finals So Far

Just like the first round, the East still doesn’t have anything interesting. All the more entertaining games are in the West where the basketball just feels like it’s on a different level. Three of the four series going on are tied up although I wanted both the Lakers and Hornets to win their respective Game 4’s.

  • Boo to the “Amazon Tax”

New York recently enacted a new tax law that requires Internet-based retailers to collect sales tax from customers based in New York. The tax has been informally dubbed the “Amazon Tax”. If you do any kind of online shopping you know that most of the time you don’t get charged sales tax on your purchases. The times that you do, it’s because the retailer has a physical location in New York. While the retailers don’t charge you sales tax, we’re actually supposed to report purchases made online on our state tax returns and pay sales tax. But no one ever does this and it’s hard to enforce.

  • 2008 NBA Playoffs 1st Round

Dallas Mavericks v. New Orleans Hornets

Has anyone ever seen Dallas exhibit any kind of sportsmanship when losing? I certainly haven’t in the last few years and that’s why I’ve always hated the Mavericks and the people on that team. They just give off a very thuggish vibe. Most of the time they resort to something like the crap that happened last night when Jason Kidd committed a dangerous Flagrant 2 foul on Janerro Pargo of the Hornets. It was right for him to get ejected, something like that could’ve caused serious injury since Pargo got flipped and was heading down head first.

  • Allergy Season 2008

People with nasal allergies like me always know when Spring is in full bloom. Starting about 2 days ago, I began getting a runny nose and sneezing pretty much all day. Spring is definitely in the air. Gotta start popping pills everyday.

  • The Office: Still Funny as Hell

Well The Office finally aired a new episode last week since the writer’s strike. They definitely haven’t lost a beat because this episode was funny as hell from beginning to end. Scrubs was good too but the show isn’t what it used to be in the early years.

  • I Hate People Who Park Their Car Selfishly

It really peeves me when I see people parking their car on the street taking up 2 spots when they could’ve easily moved their car forward or back to make room for another car. Such inconsiderate behavior really ticks me off. I have a female neighbor who does this ALL THE TIME. Her car is never parked straight either, it’s always at an angle and most of the time she doesn’t even straighten her wheels.

  • Top 10 Reasons to Watch New Season of Battlestar Galactica

The fourth and final season of Battlestar Galactica will be starting on April 4 on the SciFi channel. You know I got a lot sh*t for liking this show early on because having never watched the show, people’s first impression is that it’s scifi and dorky. But a lot of people are watching it now, even those traditionally not into scifi. Despite the name, the main focus of the show is NOT on spaceships.

Anyway, the cast appeared on David Letterman to do a Top 10 List. Reason #5 was pretty funny:

  • Two U.S. Carrier Groups Head to Taiwan for Elections

Taiwan is holding it’s presidential election this weekend and the United States has sent 2 aircraft carrier battle groups to the Taiwan region for training exercises. The U.S. has typically deployed carrier battle groups around Taiwan to basically discourage China from doing anything “provocative”. If you’re not familiar, China as repeatedly stated that Taiwan is a province of China and that if Taiwan declares independence, it will use force if necessary to bring Taiwan under its rule. This would basically entail a full-scale invasion of Taiwan. In the past China has sought to influence Taiwan’s elections by trying to intimidate the electorate, sometimes firing missiles into the Taiwan Straight.

More information about the deployment here:

  • Casio EX-Z75 Faulty Battery

I purchased a Casio EX-Z75 digital camera about a year ago and for the most part it’s been working perfectly and it’s a very good camera. However, I didn’t use it for about 2 months or so and it seems the rechargeable lithium ion battery is dead (it’s a NP-20 battery). When I try to recharge it, the red light on the charger just keeps blinking. After 2 sessions of charging for several hours, I gave up. I searched online and found out a lot of people also had this problem with this camera’s battery.
