US Open 2007 is Entertaining

More people ought to follow tennis. This year’s US Open has been pretty enjoyable so far. Federer continues his flawless and completely dominant play as usual. That guy is so fun to watch. I don’t know how anyone can challenge him. Tonight’s match of Federer v. Roddick is definitely an exciting match. Their head to head record is 13-1 (Federer) but you never know with these things. Hopefully Roddick puts up a good fight and we have a competitive match.

I stayed up late last night watching the Nadal v. Ferrer match. Too bad for Nadal – his body gave out. You could tell he was hurting in that last set but you gotta give him credit for toughing it out until the end of the match. Nadal seems to be the only person that can beat Federer but that’s only on slower surfaces like clay and grass. On hard courts, it’s a whole different story. Just look at how far back Nadal plays on hard court and all those tiring rallies. In contrast, Federer finishes his opponents off with amazing winners and just complete control of the court, especially when he’s on serve (35 straight points on serve the other night!).

Anyway, I’m going to have dinner now and catch the women’s quarterfinal between Venus Williams and that no. 3 chick (Jankovic?). I don’t really like women’s tennis as much mainly because it’s not as fast. Women just can’t hit the ball as hard (and that’s fact, not some sexist opinion) so it’s less exciting. Plus it’s only a 2-set match most of the time.
