LOL, Jeremy Lin is the 3rd highest voted guard (so far) in the West for the NBA All-Star game, behind Kobe Bryant and Chris Paul. As big a fan as I am, I hope he doesn’t overtake Chris Paul for a starting position. Let’s be honest, Lin is not at that elite level of Chris Paul (yet) and I know the All-Star game is popularity contest, but he’s just going to get so much undeserved hate if he overtakes Chris Paul.

It’s Been a Long Time
So it’s been quite a while since I last posted. I just updated the website theme today. I just haven’t felt like posting. I think I’m going to go for a Tumblr type format, just posting stuff I find interesting and random thoughts. I might switch over to Twitter or Tumblr entirely. Not quite sure yet.
I’m going on a trip to Vermont this weekend and will be there through New Year’s. It’ll be nice to get away for a little while at the end of the year.
I will probably join a gym (for real) next month. Yes, like millions of other people my New Year’s resolution is to lose weight. I’m certainly not fat – I’m 5’11” and 180 lbs and my BMI is 25.1, just barely overweight. I would like to cut down to 165 lbs through fat loss and gain 10 lbs in muscle, up to around 175 lbs, and just maintain it there. So lots of cardio first, then weights later. Modest achievable goals I think. 6-pack by next summer!
I’ve been following Jeremy Lin religiously. I watch every almost every single Rockets game. I’ve been getting into cable shows since every network show I liked has been cancelled or is ending, like The Office. I’ve caught up on The Walking Dead, Dexter, and Homeland over the last few months.
Anyway, I hope everyone’s Christmas was merry and wish everyone a happy new year. The world didn’t end but wait until the fat lady sings, 2012 ain’t over just yet! ;-)

Knicks to Let Lin Leave?
Well, it sucks, but if Lin leaves, Knicks are back to “I don’t care” mode for me. I never really liked the make-up of that team and the fact that with their expensive roster, they were still playing like crap, just made it easier to not care. It was only the emergence of Jeremy Lin that got me back into the Knicks. I am a Lin fan first and foremost before I am a Knick fan. I don’t even care what hardcore Knicks fans might think about that. It’s just how it is.
I understand Houston is making it real tough with their offer, but oh well, it is what it is. You know what though, the Knicks will never win with Dolan making decisions. The organization will make money, but they won’t win championships.
All indications now are that the Knicks are letting Lin leave. I may just have to get NBA League Pass next year to catch Rocket games.
I hope Lin gets better and better. If the Knicks don’t keep him, I hope they end up regretting it.
P.S. And this is why I didn’t rush out to buy a Lin jersey or other merchandise. All those people with a Lin #17 Knicks jersey are sour right about now. But hey, it ain’t over until the fat lady sings (that would be midnight Tuesday), there’s still a slim chance Knicks will match.
P.P.S. While I’d love for Lin to stay with my hometown Knicks, I wonder if he’ll be better off in Houston. Lin thrived with the ball in his hands, with Stoudemire and Anthony out. Perhaps he can replicate Linsanity down in Houston. And who knows, Houston might get Dwight Howard.

Knicks Avoid Sweep
I’m just happy the Knicks finally won a playoff game and avoided a sweep. All signs point to the Heat finishing off the Knicks in Game 5 down in Miami.
And Davis goes down with a dislocated kneecap – it looked quite cringeworthy on TV. I hope he gets better and wish him all the best, but I’m going to be honest here. I don’t think Davis is a good point guard. He was good in his prime but now he’s old and physically broken. He’s just not fit enough to compete at the level the Knicks want to compete at. The knee might be the final blow in a long list of injuries for him. So now we have just Bibby and Douglas left. And for some reason Woodson never plays Douglas, not even just to sub for a few minutes. Well now he probably has to. No Lin, no Shumpert, and Smith with his poor ball handling. Knicks are really hurting at point guard, as if they weren’t already, having the least assists and most turnovers of any playoff team.
There’s talk of Lin coming back on Wednesday for Game 5 but come on. The guy hasn’t even had full contact yet or tried playing defense at full speed, and he’s still feeling soreness the day after workouts. He is NOT ready to jump back in, for the playoffs no less. Lin needs to think about his future and not try to come back in a series that is likely lost already.
Now, IF the Knicks miraculously win Game 5 in Miami and IF Lin is 100% confident that he is ready to come back, then maybe he can play in Game 6. But those are 2 very big if’s.
My heart hopes for the Knicks to make history and pull off a huge upset in 7 games, but my brain is saying it ends in Game 5. :(

Why Put Novak on the Floor
Why put Novak on the floor if he is barely going to touch the ball.
Then Stoudemire goes and CUTS HIS HAND after the game. GG. Like they said on ESPN, the Knicks are great at building up expectations and then stinking up the joint. No one does it better. Lin don’t come back. Rest, heal up, get stronger for next year.
Just as I’m talking about expectations, Stoudemire apparently punched the glass case of a fire extinguisher and cut his hand badly, reportedly losing quite a bit of blood. How stupid can you be to do something like this?
The Knicks – another futile year, what’s new.

Knicks and the Playoffs
You want to know why it’s frustrating watching the Knicks? Because they sabotage themselves. Different coaches, different players, different GM’s, but it always happens.
The Knicks had a very good chance to grab the 6th spot in the East and not have to play Miami or Chicago in the first round of the playoffs. If the Knicks had won all 4 of their last 4 games, and Orlando won 1 and lost 3, they would have a tie record and since the Knicks have a winning record againts Orlando, they would be 6th.
Well, the Knicks lost to the lowly Cleveland Caveliers at the start of those 4 games, a game they should have never lost, against an inferior team. This happened after the Knicks clinched a playoff spot and everybody got complacent. The Knicks then beat Atlanta, LA Clippers, and they’re playing the Bobcats right now.
The Magic won one of those 4 games and lost two, they’re now playing Memphis and they’re down 24 at halftime, scoring a measly 30 points in the first 2 quarters. So the Knicks had a great chance, but they’re just freaking stupid. Philly is tanking against Detroit because they want to play the Bulls so it looks like the Knicks are finishing 7th no matter what. Good luck trying to beat Miami. I believe but it just doesn’t look good.

Missing Jeremy Lin
Man, I was watching some Jeremy Lin highlights and miss watching him play. For me, that was truly one of the most memorable times of watching basketball since the Michael Jordan days. Can’t wait until he’s back. That’s if the Knicks make it to the 2nd round of the playoffs. Otherwise we gotta wait until next season! I’ve still been catching every Knicks game, but it’s just not the same.
By the way, I’m noticing in a lot of the highlights, when Lin goes up for layups or dunks, he always takes off on his left leg. And his injury was to his left knee. Maybe he’s putting too much stress on that one leg? Oddly he wears a brace on his right knee. There’s no known issue with his right knee, but when you have an injury or weakness, you tend to overcompensate with other parts of your body (namely the other leg) which also leads to injury. Eh, I don’t know, it’s just speculation. I just hope Lin comes back healthy and productive so we get another round of Linsanity in the playoffs.
The Knicks just have to take out either Miami or Chicago in the first round. Yep. =/

Lebron James is a Beast
The steal was nice, but look at how incredibly fast James sprints down the court to grab the ball and dunk it. I don’t like James all that much, but he is some kind of athlete.

Say No to Nash
If the Knicks sign Steve Nash instead of Jeremy Lin, I’m going to give up on this team for a good long while. Never say never, but my fan devotion is going wherever Lin goes. Nash is great but he’s old. He’s 38. He’s still playing great but if I was a GM, I’d give him one year, with a 1 year option at best. The guy wants a 3 year deal. I think that’s a risk at his age.
Plus the Knicks can’t afford both unless they want to pay a hefty luxury tax. So it’s likely to be one or the other but who knows. Lin is bringing in so much money to MSG that they’d be dumb not to sign him. But the Knicks management are unpredictable. Mainly because a lot of stuff they do is illogical. At least historically speaking.
Knicks can only offer Lin the mid-level exception of $5 million. Same thing for Nash. If they want to offer more, they’re going to have to pay a penalty. In fact any long term deal in the future for Lin is probably going to involve penalties, because the Knicks just do not have any cap space, with the mammoth contracts of Stoudemire and Anthony. But it’ll probably be worth it considering how much money they’re making off Lin. In fact everyone’s been making money but Lin. Yes, he’s got the renegotiated Nike contract and the new Volvo deal, and other things. But I bet his agent is regretting the “take it slow” approach now. Because the injury puts everything on hold, probably until next season.
I think it’s in everyone’s best interests to keep in Lin in New York. Knicks, do the right thing for once!
