  • Starcraft 2 Release Tomorrow

Starcraft 2 was one of my most wanted games for many years and I’m oddly indifferent to its pending release tomorrow. I got a beta invite but never even installed it. Could I be losing interest in gaming? Ha, probably not. I’ll likely get around to it by the weekend. Actually, the thought having to relearn the game is slightly unappealing, because I was only able to be OK at the first game, after playing it for several years. And I haven’t touched the original game for several years so I’m not even good at that anymore. When I do something, even something as trivial as a video game, I want to be really good at it.

(07/28/2010) P.S. I lied, started playing a little bit of the campaign last night. ;-)

  • The Decision

Man, Lebron James loves himself. A big national TV event for the “King” just to announce which team he’s going to and he says the experience has been humbling. I think just the opposite. His ego is getting out of control and he hasn’t won a single championship. I feel bad for Cleveland. Too bad he didn’t come to the Knicks.

  • Awful Heat Wave

Boy, it is HOT in NYC these days. In comparison, last summer was very mild. Where I am its 97° F and feels 101° F. I can stand a dry heat, but it’s humid too right now which makes you sticky and uncomfortable. It’s the humidity that I can’t stand.

  • Twilight Movies Are Absolutely Horrible

Twilight is so bad. Just so freaking bad, it’s no joke. I made the mistake of agreeing to watch the first one. Then the bigger mistake of watching the second one. No way I’m watching another Twilight movie ever. Seriously, the 3 lead actors are so bad. They can’t act at all. I don’t remember my specific reaction to the first one, but I just remember it was nothing special and pretty much a bad movie. But wow, the second one was just an absolute horror. Bored out of my mind watching these crappy actors trying to be all angsty and everything. Makes you want blow your brains out. In fact I barely even remember what the heck happened in the 2 movies. I just remember bad actors squinting their eyes and trying to emote and the girl with the same blank look on her face all the time.

Sometimes I have these random pockets of free time in front of my computer and I like to check out movie trailers. And judging by the trailer for the latest Twilight movie it’s going to be another huge stinker. It’s like these actors get worse and more wooden after each one. How the hell are these people cast. I’m sure there are a million good-looking, under-employed actors out in L.A. that could’ve done better.

TWILIGHT IS JUST SO DAMN BAD. DO NOT WATCH THESE MOVIES EVEN IF YOU’RE ACCOMPANYING SOMEONE. YOU’LL REGRET IT – I GUARANTEE. AVOID LIKE THE PLAGUE.

People have died while watching Twilight. It’s that bad.

  • Apple iPhone 4 Reception Issues

So apparently, because the antenna is built into the outer casing of the phone, when you hold it a certain way, you lose your signal. Wow, that’s a pretty big flaw. And for the first time ever, Apple is releasing a first-party “bumper” case for the iPhone. They always let third parties sell these things. So is Apple really charging people $29 for a piece of rubber, to fix a flaw in the phone? It would seem so. Even if this thing comes to Verizon Wireless in January, as rumored, I ain’t buying it. I’ll stick with Droid, thank you very much. Integrated Google Voice and Skype are already more than enough to go with Droid.

  • Federer Loses to Berdych at Wimbledon

Well, yea. I thought Fed had chances and didn’t take advantage. All those chip returns and unforced errors on 2nd serves. A bunch of uncanny forehand errors that should have been gimme points. On many balls I thought he could reach, he didn’t even try. Movement-wise, I thought Fed was very flat. I’m still a bit sore on that loss. Fed may be aging and not have the same zip that he used to but I still think he can win more majors. Forget Nadal, Fed needs to find a way to neutralize these tall players with huge serves and forehands. The future of tennis seems to be heading this way (Soderling, Del Potro, Berdych, etc.).

I think he’s going to practice hard this summer and come back strong during the US hardcourt swing. I just made a $100 bet with someone that Fed will win the US Open. Yea, thas right!

P.S. Lu lost in straight sets in a routine win for Djokovic. :-(

  • Yen Hsun Lu Beats Andy Roddick at Wimbledon

Wow, Taiwanese player Yen Hsun Lu (ranked no.82) beat Andy Roddick (ranked no.7) in a major upset today at Wimbledon. Normally, I’d support Roddick, but not today, got to support a fellow Taiwanese. Nobody gave Lu a chance. Nobody. Every commentator was expecting an easy straight sets win by Roddick. It was a great. Honestly I thought it’d be hard for Lu to win in the 5th because there’s no tiebreaker and Roddick is an amazing server. Lu evidently felt the exact same way. But he hung in there, kept fighting, and won the match on his first match point. I’d love to seem him beat Djokovic too. If he were to meet Federer however, I’m going to be very conflicted.

Poor Roddick, I really feel for him though. Guy doesn’t get broken all match until the last game and loses. Another heart-breaker at Wimbledon. At least this time it wasn’t at the hands of Federer. But no one expected it to be Lu!

By the way Yen Hsun Lu is from Taiwan, a sovereign country, not stupid Chinese Taipei. It’s only called Chinese Taipei because China is a bully. They can’t even show the real Taiwanese flag next to Lu’s name. It’s ridiculous.

  • China Disabled People’s Performing Art Troupe

I went to a charity event held by the Tzu Chi Foundation last night and the China Disabled People’s Performing Art Troupe put on a pretty amazing performance. These are visually impaired people playing instruments and hearing impaired people dancing. Sometimes both performed together in sync. Imagine how hard it is to master an instrument or play songs without being able to read notes or see what it is your playing. Imagine how hard it is to dance to music without hearing the music. Heck, just imagine what it would be like if you couldn’t see or hear. These amazing people make the best with what they have and do what they love. It was simply amazing.

  • Exciting NBA Finals

Man, the finals this year have been pretty entertaining. Fisher was just spectacular in the 4th quarter last night. And that layup at the end – just wow.

Big Baby looks pissed off at the end of the video but this is what you get for wagging your tongue and posing after making a few layups when your team is still behind. Fish just hit a clutch layup against 3 bigger defenders with the and 1. Yup.

  • Federer Loses to Soderling

Wow, Roger Federer just lost in the quarterfinals at the French Open to Robin Soderling. It’s quite unbelievable, but Soderling was impressive today. Soderling, if you remember, took out Nadal in the 4th round last year and this year again takes out the defending champion. Fed’s incredible run of 23 straight Grand Slam semifinal appearances has finally come to an end.
