Silver Linings Playbook isn’t bad. I’ll say this: it’s the best romantic comedy aka chick flick I’ve seen in a long time. It’s a nice date movie and for a guy, you can actually enjoy it.
One of my resolutions is to read more books and I’m probably going to pick up a Nexus 7 and read e-books. I was looking at bestseller lists at Amazon and Google Play and there’s so many books in the same vein as 50 Shades of Grey. The lists are filled with these romance novels with cheesy covers. I remember always seeing an entire rack of these at the library when I was a kid and no one borrowed these books. I’m a bit surprised these type of books are so popular with women now.
So of the Oscar nominees for Best Picture, I’ve watched Lincoln, Zero Dark Thirty, and Argo. Of just those, I would pick Argo. Regarding Lincoln, the acting was great and it was a nice history lesson, but the movie was boring as f*ck. I can appreciate good period pieces and historical dramas, but Lincoln was just 2.5 hours of people in rooms talking. I was hoping they’d throw in a battle from the Civil War or maybe the assassination plot, but nope. I’m not pretentious enough to sit here and say Lincoln was some amazing movie. Movies should entertain and Lincoln does not.
I let sleep be my hair stylist most days. Okay, sometimes I splash on some water and fix it if it’s really crazy. But like with anything, just rock your style with confidence and people don’t question it.
I missed this game but this is just nice. Josh Smith too embarrassed to run back on d.

LOL, Jeremy Lin is the 3rd highest voted guard (so far) in the West for the NBA All-Star game, behind Kobe Bryant and Chris Paul. As big a fan as I am, I hope he doesn’t overtake Chris Paul for a starting position. Let’s be honest, Lin is not at that elite level of Chris Paul (yet) and I know the All-Star game is popularity contest, but he’s just going to get so much undeserved hate if he overtakes Chris Paul.
So it’s been quite a while since I last posted. I just updated the website theme today. I just haven’t felt like posting. I think I’m going to go for a Tumblr type format, just posting stuff I find interesting and random thoughts. I might switch over to Twitter or Tumblr entirely. Not quite sure yet.
I’m going on a trip to Vermont this weekend and will be there through New Year’s. It’ll be nice to get away for a little while at the end of the year.
I will probably join a gym (for real) next month. Yes, like millions of other people my New Year’s resolution is to lose weight. I’m certainly not fat – I’m 5’11” and 180 lbs and my BMI is 25.1, just barely overweight. I would like to cut down to 165 lbs through fat loss and gain 10 lbs in muscle, up to around 175 lbs, and just maintain it there. So lots of cardio first, then weights later. Modest achievable goals I think. 6-pack by next summer!
I’ve been following Jeremy Lin religiously. I watch every almost every single Rockets game. I’ve been getting into cable shows since every network show I liked has been cancelled or is ending, like The Office. I’ve caught up on The Walking Dead, Dexter, and Homeland over the last few months.
Anyway, I hope everyone’s Christmas was merry and wish everyone a happy new year. The world didn’t end but wait until the fat lady sings, 2012 ain’t over just yet! 😉
Well, it sucks, but if Lin leaves, Knicks are back to “I don’t care” mode for me. I never really liked the make-up of that team and the fact that with their expensive roster, they were still playing like crap, just made it easier to not care. It was only the emergence of Jeremy Lin that got me back into the Knicks. I am a Lin fan first and foremost before I am a Knick fan. I don’t even care what hardcore Knicks fans might think about that. It’s just how it is.
I understand Houston is making it real tough with their offer, but oh well, it is what it is. You know what though, the Knicks will never win with Dolan making decisions. The organization will make money, but they won’t win championships.
All indications now are that the Knicks are letting Lin leave. I may just have to get NBA League Pass next year to catch Rocket games.
I hope Lin gets better and better. If the Knicks don’t keep him, I hope they end up regretting it.
P.S. And this is why I didn’t rush out to buy a Lin jersey or other merchandise. All those people with a Lin #17 Knicks jersey are sour right about now. But hey, it ain’t over until the fat lady sings (that would be midnight Tuesday), there’s still a slim chance Knicks will match.
P.P.S. While I’d love for Lin to stay with my hometown Knicks, I wonder if he’ll be better off in Houston. Lin thrived with the ball in his hands, with Stoudemire and Anthony out. Perhaps he can replicate Linsanity down in Houston. And who knows, Houston might get Dwight Howard.
