What is it with all these companies in different industries asking for a bailout? Seriously, the other day I read some report about the porn industry asking for a bailout. It’s just getting ridiculous. A business should be run in a way to handle downturns, otherwise you get replaced by a more competent competitor. It seems the fashionable thing to do these days is to just ask for a government bailout when times get tough.

Iraqi Journalist Throws Shoes at President Bush
See the video here. It’s a New York Times video with the actual sound. You can see a news editted version from MSNBC below. I think anyone who reads my blog knows what I think of Bush, but this is not the right way to send a message. It’s completely useless actually and disrespectful. I gotta admit, Bush has pretty good reflexes. The guy was pretty close and that first shoe came at him pretty fast and he managed to dodge it. Not bad. It’s pretty shocking to see the most powerful man in the world get shoes thrown at him. The Bush legacy… ha.

Back to Work
I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving. My break was definitely a much needed rest. I actually attended a wedding on Thanksgiving with my family so the food was great. I slept in everyday from Thursday to Sunday, which was really nice. Overall, it was a good rest and helped clear my head. But it’s back to work now. A couple more weeks until Christmas!

Jury Duty
My first experience with jury duty today consisted of sitting around all day from 8:30am to 5pm watching movies. Seriously. 8.5 perfectly good working hours down the drain. It couldn’t come at a worse time though since my brains are about to explode with the work I’m juggling. I could’ve worked there on my laptop, which I brought, but there’s just no way I’m entering any password over a public, unsecured network with content filtering.
We watched Indiana Jones and the Lost Crusade, Legally Blonde 2, and The Perfect Storm. I think I paid attention to 2 sentences from Legally Blonde 2 and it was already complete torture.

Election Day 2008
Finally, the day is here – go out and vote!
I just got back from voting. My polling location is an elementary school a block from where I live – there were no lines really, everything moved pretty smoothly. I was in-and-out in about 10 minutes. Obama 08!

Despite the Recession
I’ve actually gotten a lot more work this month. Well, there was a general uptick in work following the end of summer but I was little worried some of my clients would cut back in the face of a recession. And yes, I’m pretty sure we’re in a recession. I’m still worried about how it’ll affect me in a couple months, but we’ll see. Sorry, not much else to post about, I’ve been pretty busy. Have a good weekend!
