At Home for the Holidays
I just came home for winter break last night. It was a surprisingly short trip, compared to the 7-1/2 hour debacle last time. This time it only took just over 4 hours which is really fast for a Ithaca-NYC trip AND I had 2 seats to myself. So it was a pleasant ride this time. There was this pretty Korean girl sitting next to me across the aisle (funny how you can always tell if a girl is Korean). I felt like starting a chat with her but considering her boyfriend was sitting behind me, maybe it wouldn’t have been a good idea. The bus TV’s showed Paycheck so I watched it for like the 4th time and slept the rest of the time. I really don’t know why I’ve seen that movie so many times, I don’t even think it’s that good. Circumstances have forced me to watch the movie 4 times - what the hell. Ben Affleck, could you please make some decent movies?
The Patriot Act Should Not Be Renewed
Man, I’m glad some politicians in the Senate have some balls and are doing the right thing without partisanship. The Patriot Act should not be renewed in its current form. Most people don’t even realize the kind of power the Patriot Act gives government agencies. Sure, they need some expanded abilities in order to gather intelligence and fight terrorism, but you should not give them such broad powers without some kind of oversight. Freedom in exchange for security? No, I don’t think so.
Barrage of Finals and Plans for Winter Break
So I’m dealing with 5 finals this week. Thursday night I will be completely done and I will be heading home on Friday. It’s actually not as bad as it sounds. It’s still a pain in the ass but it’s just that I have a few 1 credit courses, so those finals aren’t that tough.
Over Winter Break, I’m going to basically relax, move my venture closer towards a full launch, and I’m also going to work on my other website (The StuffBox). Basically I’m redeveloping that site to build more traffic and start generating ad revenue. I’ll also be doing some reading, I’m ordering a couple of books - lately I’ve been getting into those business educational/motivational/self-help type of books. They’re pretty interesting to read and provide insightful yet practical information.
I decided that I should set a launch date. The website will launch on February 7, 2006!
Aeon Flux
I saw Aeon Flux last Friday and it was a pretty good movie. I only vaguely remember some episodes of the old cartoon on MTV, so you don’t really need to be an Aeon Flux fan to enjoy this movie because the movie stands on its own. Some critics are saying the plot is confusing but I thought it was pretty straightforward, so unless you’re an idiot, you should have no problems.
The story isn’t amazing but it is fairly interesting. The cinematography, set design, and overall style of this movie are cool. There are a lot of good shots throughout the film and the action is pretty unique because of Aeon’s style of movement. Even the fashion and architecture are pretty avant-garde so it really creates a different, futuristic environment and makes the movie somewhat artistic. There’s intrigue, mystery, and even love in this movie. I’d recommend the movie to others.

Charlize Theron definitely nailed the part right on the dot - I don’t think anyone else would’ve been able to portray the character with any depth. Plus Charlize is probably the only actress with the physical attributes to match Aeon Flux. She doesn’t have the perfect body but it’s good enough. Plus she did most of her own stunts, what other actress can do that?
