Life is Like a Box of Chocolates
Being at a place like Cornell really puts a lot of pressure on you. You always hear about people going off to great jobs at big companies. And as a senior, people always ask you THE question - what are you doing after you graduate? At this point I really don’t know yet. Sure, it would be nice to have secured some job and know I’ll have a place to go to after I graduate. The 9-5 grind. But I just feel the need to deviate. That type of conformity is just too mundane for me. So where will I be a year from now? What will I be doing?
Fall 04 About To Start
Well I got back to Ithaca today. The new semester starts on Thursday. It’s going to be a really busy semester. First of all, my schedule is very full. There’s actually one more class I really want to take but I can’t fit it. But on top of classes, I am conducting three new business ventures, to try and make some money. Then I have to set aside time everyday to work out so I reach my goal of losing 20 lbs. this semester. I also have to make sure my entertainment site (The Stuffbox) continues to garner new members and gain advertising revenue. This semester I’m also looking to join a club or two. After all that, I still have to set aside leisure time to play games, go out, etc.
It’s going to be a busy semester..
Summer Plans
I don’t know whether I should get a corporate job over the summer or do my own thing. I’m really leaning toward working on starting my own business. I really don’t like working for people for several reasons. I don’t like being supervised and watched over. I don’t like that the my hard work earns appreciation for my superiors when they had nothing to do with it. I don’t like that my work may be judged by people even less qualified than I am on the subject matter. I don’t like not having complete freedom. I don’t like that I would have to report to a superior. I don’t like being issued orders. You could say I have an aversion to authority.
