Seriously. I can’t stand how incompetent people are that they can’t even complete simple tasks. In my last post I mentioned that I visited a med center to take care of some administrative issues regarding my mother’s health insurance. Well the reason for that visit was to fix a mispelling of my mother’s name on her insurance card. This was something that literally took 2 minutes but we were forced to go in person and wait an hour and a half.

Hot Weather Brings Out the House Centipedes
We’ve recently just had a 90+ heat wave for a week here in NYC and it seems to bring out the bugs. Most notably, house centipedes. Yes I just used my advanced research skills to find that page on Wikipedia.

SunRocket is Crashing
The VoIP company I use, SunRocket, apparently is going out of business. They have a lot of outstanding debt that they can’t pay and all last ditch efforts to either continue operations or sell the company have fallen through. In fact, a leaked internal memo states that SunRocket may shut down at close-of-business TODAY!

Being Lazy Under This Insanely Hot Weather
Everyone in NYC knows we’re going through a heat wave – heck it’s going to be 98 tomorrow! This kind of unbearably hot weather makes me so lazy. I have air conditioning but I try not to turn it on until the afternoon – I try to not turn it on during peak hours. The sleep deprivation is definitely catching up to me too. For the first half of today I just couldn’t stay alert. The combination of my extreme drowsiness and the hot weather made me extremely sluggish. So needless to say I was not very productive.

Federer Wins His Fifth Wimbledon Title in a Row
Wow, this was one heck of a championship match – talk about top notch tennis. Federer is just on a whole other level compared to the rest of men’s tennis. I certainly think he’s the best player ever. I mean, the guy is only 25 and he has 11 majors. Roger Federer has won 11 of the past 17 Grand Slam titles. If he wins the U.S. Open in September, he’ll have 12 already! I’m pretty sure he’s going to break Sampras’ 14. Roger’s won 5 straight Wimbledon, 3 straight US Open, and 2 straight Australian Open! Even Pete Sampras wasn’t as dominant as Federer.

10 Hours of Sleep Feels Really Good
I went to bed at 4 am and woke up at 2 pm on Sunday. I gotta say 10 hours of sleep feels really good. I haven’t had 10 hours of sleep for probably over a year. Everyone’s internal clock and needs are different but I think I probably need 10 hours of sleep on a regular basis. But I never get that. On average, I get around 6-7 hours which is not enough because around that mid-afternoon lull, I start getting very drowsy. Here are some interesting facts about sleep you may not know:

STARCRAFT II
This was really big news in the video game world and I began following it when there were rumors floating around that Blizzard would announce a new game at the Worldwide Invitational in Korea. For those that don’t know, Starcraft is insanely popular in South Korea and it’s actually a sport there (with spectators and televised matches). It was only logical to assume that this new product would be the long awaited Starcraft II. Blizzard’s tagline when they introduced this game was very appropriate – “Hell, it’s about time.” In my opinion, Starcraft is one of the greatest games ever and the best RTS game (so far). You just have to be into the game to understand.

Safari on Windows
Apple released a new beta version of their Safari web browser yesterday. Normally this news wouldn’t be that important to me but this new version now works on Windows! As a web developer this is great news because now I don’t need to use/borrow/buy a Mac just to test my work in Safari. As I deal with larger projects it has increasingly become more important to test in Safari.
