Insomnia

I’ve been dealing with a bout of insomnia for the past month or so. I just can’t get myself to sleep until around 4-5 am every single night. On occassion I’ve been up until 6 am. On weekends I can at least sleep in and get a bit more sleep but on weekdays I obviously have to get up and work. This is making me really tired during the day and I can notice black areas under my eyes. My glasses kind of mask it but without glasses it’s kind of noticeable. Just not really a healthy look.

10 Hours of Sleep Feels Really Good

I went to bed at 4 am on Saturday night and woke up at 2 pm on Sunday. I gotta say 10 hours of sleep feels really good. I haven’t had 10 hours of sleep for probably over a year. Everyone’s internal clock and needs are different but I think I probably need 10 hours of sleep on a regular basis. But I never get that. On average, I get around 6-7 hours which is not enough because around that mid-afternoon lull, I start getting very drowsy. Here are some interesting facts about sleep you may not know:

Sleeping Position

Sleeping Positions

It’s about sleeping positions and what they say about your personality. I don’t know how they can correlate sleeping position with personality and I don’t really believe in this stuff but it’s fun to read. I alternate between between Foetus, Yearner, Freefaller, and Starfish so what does that say? And who the heck sleeps in the “Log” position on top of their arm? It looks awkward and uncomfortable. I sometimes wake up in the Freefaller position except my arm is under the pillow and it’s almost completely numb because I cut off circulation. Trust me, it’s very weird when you wake up and you can’t feel your arm.

INSOMNIA

Wow, I’ve really been stricken with a case of insomnia this past week. I just can’t sleep. Not only that I probably have to pull an all-nighter for an assignment due Thursday. I just want some SLEEP. Thursday night, I’m going to bed early, even if it takes half a bottle of SoCo.

Over Thanksgiving Break, I’m going into hibernation. Over winter break, it’s going be serious deep hibernation. I’m going to make up for a year’s worth of deprived sleep. I don’t know why but at home I can sleep for 12-14 hours every night. It’s great.

What the Deuce!

Man, I am screwed over. I have a case analysis due for my management strategy class tomorrow (or today actually) and I was confused about the due date and did not realize the assignment was due until RIGHT NOW (2 am). The professor had delayed the assignment by one class and I thought it was one week. A classmate told me that it was due and now I have to spend several more hours working on this instead of sleeping. I’m currently considering just not doing this case since the two lowest grades are dropped. If I don’t get enough sleep, I’m literally fucked for the entire day until I can get some type of nap. I need lots of sleep to be fully alert. The dilemma: to do the assignment or slack off and not do it.

I Can’t Sleep

So it’s 4 AM and I can’t sleep! I also notice I’ve been posting more often lately. I don’t know. I was thinking that this upcoming school year is going to be an interesting one. It’ll be my last year at Cornell and probably also in the educational system. I’ve got a business I’m kick starting and a few personal goals. I don’t know but more and more I get this feeling that it will be a defining year.

Quiet Friday Night

I overslept this morning and accidentally skipped the only class I have today. I went to bed too late last night and had trouble getting up this morning. I unwittingly turned off my alarm clock in my morning stupor (instead of hitting snooze). I am definitely not a morning person. I’m very groggy for about 10 minutes after getting up.

Anyway, I hit the gym shortly afterward with 2 friends. Was in there for about 2 hours. Doesn’t sound as intense as it seems - we were taking longer breaks between sets and chatting. Then we had lunch for another 2 hours, just basically chatting about various things. We then wanted to play basketball, called up a bunch of people, but found out there was no place available to play.

Sweet Sweet Sleep

Last night after my exam I went to go play basketball. Luckily my body didn’t give out on me but my performance was really low. Last night I went to sleep at midnight and got up at 2 pm. That’s 14 hours baby! I hope I can do it again tonight. It feels really good to be rejuvenated. I’m going to go catch Ocean’s 12 tonight, it looks really good. So many good movies coming out. I also want to watch Blade: Trinity and The Life Aquatic With Steve Zissou.

Well this weekend I can completely relax. I have a final on Tuesday and Thursday and I’m done. Yay!

Another Weekend Debacle

So anyway, last Saturday, I went to Six Flags with a bunch of friends. It was supposed to be a really fun day. But it didn’t really turn out that great.
