Punk’d by My Advisor
Okay, so I totally got punk’d last Thursday. I was supposed to meet with my advisor to go over graduation requirements at 4:30 pm but when I showed up, her office was closed and she was out for the day! Not only that, that day I was busily running last minute errands before leaving Ithaca, so she wasted a whole hour of my time. In her email she explicitly stated “Let’s make it Thursday at 4:30″ but when I emailed her again she said she thought we were meeting on Wednesday. She could’ve emailed me on Thursday asking why I didn’t show up or something. She didn’t even apologize for her obvious mistake.
PUNK’D,
Phil
My Eclectic Schedule for Fall 2005
I’ve pretty much covered all of my AEM requirement and now I’m just filling up on credits for electives and other more minor requirements. Aside from the first 3 courses, everything is either a 1 credit or 2 credit course. This semester I’m taking:
Cornell President Resigns
Well, it’s just been announced that Cornell’s current president, Jeff Lehman has resigned. The reason cited is differences with the board of trustees over the long term vision for Cornell. But I wonder what the real reason is. I’m thinking they sat him down and asked him just exactly what he was thinking when he came up with the Star Wars commencement speech. The previous president, Hunter Rawlings, will serve as interim president until a new president is chosen. Looks like I may have 3 different Cornell presidents during my time at Cornell.
Post-Commencement 05
What can I say, it’s the end of an era. Senior week was definitely memorable. From BBQ’s in the freezing cold to Tom out-drinking Robert to the Gunhill Flood of 05. Then graduation - the congrats and the goodbyes.
School Year Winding Down
Man, the school year is ending. Many people are graduating. A few I will still see next year but things definitely won’t be the same. Makes me all sentimental and little sad. But I’m also happy because people are starting their non-academic life. Can’t believe our group will be broken up.
Limbo Time and the Current State of Higher Education
I usually update my blog either during homework breaks or during those small pockets of time where I just don’t feel like doing anything at all. This is what I call limbo time. During limbo time, I don’t feel like reading, studying, surfing the web, playing games, or working on anything. I just don’t want to do anything. Obviously limbo time leaves me very bored. Also right now I have a slight headache probably caused by sleep deprivation over the last 2 weeks. I’ve developed some form of insomnia where I just feel the need to mess around until 4 AM.
Anywho, I’d like to now vent about classes and education:
Phil’s Latest Update From This Frozen Tundra
Boy, the past weekend has been like a tropical paradise - temperatures in the low 30s at around freezing level. Man I felt like getting out and enjoying the weather more. Considering the past week it was like a Siberian nightmare in Ithaca. We had -30 degrees F over here with the wind chill. It was insanely cold. I bought these new 180s earmuffs that go around the back of your head - these things are awesome.
Sweet Sweet Sleep
Last night after my exam I went to go play basketball. Luckily my body didn’t give out on me but my performance was really low. Last night I went to sleep at midnight and got up at 2 pm. That’s 14 hours baby! I hope I can do it again tonight. It feels really good to be rejuvenated. I’m going to go catch Ocean’s 12 tonight, it looks really good. So many good movies coming out. I also want to watch Blade: Trinity and The Life Aquatic With Steve Zissou.
Well this weekend I can completely relax. I have a final on Tuesday and Thursday and I’m done. Yay!
