My Spring Break 2006 Post
It’s a pretty quiet spring break this year. This time I just wanted to stay home, relax, and catch up on sleep. I also wanted to use the time to do some business related research. I don’t know why but at school there just seems to be so many distractions and interruptions. You try to set aside time for things but everything is so discontinuous.
My Post-Thanksgiving Review
Well I hope everyone had a good Thanksgiving. My post is basically an update on what’s been going on lately, it’s a little all over the place.
The Long Trip from Ithaca to NYC
First I have to mention my crappy bus ride from Ithaca. What a LONG ride. The bus left Collegetown at around 6:20 pm and at 7:00 pm we got stuck behind some accident for 2 whole hours. I think this is the 3rd time I’ve gotten stuck behind an accident on trip between Ithaca and NYC - what rotten luck. Then about an hour outside the city, the bus driver stops at a McDonald’s, where half the bus gets off to get food. We’re over 2 hours behind schedule and you’re going to stop and waste more time?! The one good thing is that I ended up in one of the back rows and the bus didn’t fill up so I had 2 seats to myself so I could spread my legs out more comfortably.
INSOMNIA
Wow, I’ve really been stricken with a case of insomnia this past week. I just can’t sleep. Not only that I probably have to pull an all-nighter for an assignment due Thursday. I just want some SLEEP. Thursday night, I’m going to bed early, even if it takes half a bottle of SoCo.
Over Thanksgiving Break, I’m going into hibernation. Over winter break, it’s going be serious deep hibernation. I’m going to make up for a year’s worth of deprived sleep. I don’t know why but at home I can sleep for 12-14 hours every night. It’s great.
High School Yearbook Lost
Well, this happened a while ago but I just got thinking about it lately. When I moved my stuff out of Gunhill, I discovered my high school yearbook was in one of the boxes that was in a closet downstairs. The yearbook was ruined by water damage - the pages stuck together and there was some kind of mold growing in it. So I had to throw it out.
That really SUCKED. Kind of like throwing out memories. There were signatures and notes in there from high school friends. Well wishes, jokes, and things like that. It’s always fun you know, when you’re cleaning up things or moving, you see your yearbook and flip through it, enjoying the nostalgia.
So now I realized I’ll never be able to do that again. Which sucks.
P.S. I just realized it’s already August, and there’s only about 3 weeks left until I start classes again. Time really does fly.
Post-Commencement 05
What can I say, it’s the end of an era. Senior week was definitely memorable. From BBQ’s in the freezing cold to Tom out-drinking Robert to the Gunhill Flood of 05. Then graduation - the congrats and the goodbyes.
School Year Winding Down
Man, the school year is ending. Many people are graduating. A few I will still see next year but things definitely won’t be the same. Makes me all sentimental and little sad. But I’m also happy because people are starting their non-academic life. Can’t believe our group will be broken up.
Spring Break 05
Spring break was a great week
I had a lot of fun and it really cleared my head. It feels great when all you have to worry about is how to get somewhere or whether your parking meter is filled. My friends and I spent 4 days in South Beach Miami and 4 days in Daytona Beach. I liked South Beach much better - women were hotter, beaches were nicer, and the weather was better. Definitely enjoyed a lot of good food. Had a lot of Heinekens and Kahlua Mudslides. Those mudslides are freakin awesome - they taste like spiked Starbucks Vanilla Frappacinos! I wonder if I can get my hands on them in Ithaca. Not only that we flew first class, so that was really nice. By the way, what they call “snack service” is nearly a meal and you can have all the free drinks you want.
Upcoming Spring Break and Other Ponderings
Well, it’s exactly 2 weeks until my friends and I take off for Spring Break. It’s officially set, we will be spending 4 days in South Beach Miami and then 4 days in Daytona Beach. The total cost of the trip was a deal too because my friend Tom hooked us all up with FREE round trip plane tickets! His dad had a lot of frequent flyer miles and was gracious enough to use them for our Spring Break trip. Awesome? YES. I have 3 midterms between now and Spring Break and a few homework assignments. Needless to say I really can’t wait for Spring Break. My fortune cookie tonight said “You will have a pleasant trip.” I hope that’s right!
