I hate it, for the last 6 months its been a living hell disconnecting every 5 minutes, with the Techs coming out sayin the same stuff, ive called an called but can never get a straight answer...aha the funny thing is when you mention you wanna cancel your service they try everything in the book to make sure it works while your on the phone. im taking my Verizon Modem and im going to shoot it with my 3006, and post it on youtube haha, so be on the look out for that.

Same deal here, but maybe a seemingly exaggerated version as the DSL cuts out every couple of minutes for about 20 seconds, though some days are better. Had similar problems at my previous residence...different service, different state, but the same bs. Been around and around the "customer service."

Just a completely unreliable service and can't wait to get back to cable, which worked reliably and much faster.

Never let your tech inept roommate make the home telecommunications decisions. Sure, we were both hating Comcast for overpriced services, throttled and capped bandwith, so we were researching other options. Since he is responsible for cable and internet, this dude goes and signs up with Verizon, gets us DSL that is usually slower than the cable we had and disconnects on a routine (like 5 times since I started trying to post this comment!) basis. We have Airport Express stations to extend the wireless signal over our narrow, long apartment, so we are always connected to the network, but diagnostics always point to all the hardware working, so when I walk the length of the apartment to check the wireless modem Verizon gave us, I know the little red "internet" light will be on and I'll have to reset the thing. Oh, did I mention it was a package deal so we have a landline phone now too that neither of us uses much (cell phones!!), but telemarketers use pretty regularly to try and sell us newspaper subscriptions we don't want (since we can, you know, read the news online when our INTERNET WORKS!!)

Verizon knows their DSL network is deficient in many areas but they won't openly admit this to you so they provide other excuses. I don't know about your local area, but Earthlink only resells services from other companies. Like in NYC, Earthlink resells Time Warner Cable's Road Runner service. So it's likely Earthlink resells Verizon DSL or Comcast cable in your area. For me, Earthlink was cheaper than RR (even though it's the same service) so I went with Earthlink.

Netzero is only dialup so I think your choice is between Comcast or Earthlink. If Earthlink resells Comcast, it pretty much just comes down to price. Just note that Comcast throttles P2P traffic and has enabled bandwidth caps. But you'll probably get much better speed from Comcast cable. The choices (or lack thereof) suck but that is the state of U.S. broadband.

I pay 40 dollars a month for the max of 3 mb and lowet of 768 kb connection, the highest I have ever gotten downloading was 90 kb. I have called the verizon reps and everytime they say it is because I have more than one computer hooked up to my modem via router. Which is a load of shit, because when only one computer it turned on it still stays the same. Screw verizon, the only other choice I have is comcast, netzero, and earthlink. Which is my best bet?

For all of you, like myself, who have major problems with Verizon DSL, be sure to tell their tech support that you want a CREDIT for the days you are without service. If I recall correctly, they've already given me approx $10 in credits since June. Not much, but it helps.

Yes, Verizon DSL does suck--big time. I've switched to Comcast permanently. The reason I switched: I have this friend who works as a network specialist for Verizon. And he told me that if I gave him the name an address of anyone within his area he could run a report on their surfing habits and give a copy to me. I didn't believe him so, I gave him the address of several of my co-workers. Low and behold! The things you can tell about a person from their surfing habits. I learned that one of my co-workers, a woman of 45 is trying to get pregnant by using a sperm bank. Who knew? The way she rejects the guys in the office, we though she was a dyke. She has been doing online searches for sperm banks in the area. She even placed an online ad for sperm donors. Why must they always have a high IQ? Anyway, my boss likes, a man of 65, wears incontinence pads. He orders them wholesale online. I gave my friend at Verizon my neighbors name and address and the couple next door visits all sorts of dirty porn sites at night. Although, it could be just the guy doing it by himself. My neighbor to the right of me, I believe has pancreatic cancer. We can tell because she is constantly searching for treatment articles on the internet. This is one of the main reason I left Verizon. I didn't want to be spied on. My friend tells me that half of the network specialist are running these reports for their friends and many ares doing it for money. For the record, the policy is Verizon does not engage in this sort of thing. Off they record, maybe not Verizon, but their employees do. The thing of it is, it's not against the law, though it may be unethical. I'm seriously thinking about getting a surfing report on our pastor. I've always believed he was a shady character.

Claiming Verizon DSL sucks or is crappy is an insult to vacuum cleaners and manures. At least with these two items you can use to clean your home and grow flowers.

The quality of Verizon DSL's service goes beyond atrocious! I had Verizon DSL for about 1 year and it never worked correctly at the onset. All the filters and other hardware connections were properly installed but the DSL connection always cuts off when an incoming telephone call occurs or if someone tries to make a call from any of the phones in the house. I can be surfing the Internet and B.S. initially because I was locked into a one year contract and the DSL reconnects about 5 - 10 minutes after a disconnection. Lately, the modem can be left on for an entire day and the DSL will not connect. On those rare occassion that it connects, the connection is cut off after half an hour or less.

The only thing worst than Verizon's DSL is their completely moronic (no) tech support reached from the 800-567-6789 number. I contacted those idiots about the connection problem this Sunday and a field tech was scheduled to come to my house this Tuesday morning to examin the connection problem stated above. After waiting almost an entire day I called customer service when the tech did not show up but only to find out that the ticket to dispatch the tech to my house was closed. After yelling at the Bozo in customer service he informed me Verizon performed a remote diagnostic of my line the day before. I should have received a pre-recorded message that according to their results, everything on my telepone line and connection is in working properly. The joker said it is Verizon's policy not to send a field tech if the remote diognostic result is O.K.... So nice of Verizon not to inform me after they canceled my ticket.

Well, the connection/cut-off problem is still there. I told Verizon to send a bloody field tech over this week and they confirmed that a new ticket was open to dispatch a tech to come over this Friday. But guess what, I just received a pre-recorded call from Verizon informing me that they had done a remote-diognostic and the results of my line and connection is working properly.

Now, I don't really give a damn wheather or not the tech shows up. I not going to be home anyway and I'm in the process of having a cable-internet service set up.

P.S. I wish you will publish and share my comment and to as many other parties as possible.

"Hallo, my name is ????????? thang you veddy so much for callin the verizon online serbisez, how please may I be to assist you" WHAT THE HELL? Trying to understand the tech support is almost as hard as getting the bastards on the phone. I am constantly amused at the recorded helpline suggestion that our issue "could be solved using the online service" If I could get online, I wouldn't be calling! I have called today 3 times, what do I get every time, "sir if you please would make me happy you to turn off your modem and in 30 seconds, please to turn it back on" I've done it 4 times today, look at your screen asshole. I do not believe there really is a service hotline, just a bunch of people(or maybe just 3) slaughtering the english language with only the knowledge to say, "please to turn your modem of for 30 seconds" I can't wait to grow up and get real high speed.
