Website Coming Along
The website for my web services business is really coming along. This is by far the most professional looking site I’ve ever developed. I’ve also made it Firefox and IE cross-browser compatible (the site looks identical in both browsers).
So things are rolling. I even developed a little “wizard” that will ask a prospective customer a few questions and determine which web hosting plan is best for them. This alone took me about 2 days because I had to map out an entire decision tree based on people’s possible answers and then put it into PHP code.
If you’re wondering why I ever transferred out of Computer Science, well web scripting is much simpler compared to full-on computer programming. Web design and development also has a much more artistic side to it which I enjoy. I DO NOT enjoy writing thousands of lines of code, trying to debug it, etc.
I really like entrepreneurship because I’ve never liked having to work for someone else. I want to do things my way and on my own terms and I hate having to “obey” someone else’s orders or be under pressure from a “superior.” To have someone watch over your back and judge your performance - I can’t work like that. I don’t need any external force to motivate me. I push myself to excel because to be anything less than great at anything I do is unacceptable. Obviously the fact that I’m not outgoing is a weakness in the business world but I don’t really see it as a debilitating weakness. I will just have to blaze my own trail.

hope you’re enjoying your summer. talk to you soon, Phil!
You owe me $26 from your Ray Huang debt. Have a nice day. See ya in a couple weeks.

<– you gotta make your bones, as they say. if you want to do it on your own - you still have to “apprentice” with a mentor/corporation/business to learn the ropes - a skill set that is transferable to whatever endeavor that you pursue. this way you learn what, how, when, why to do the right thing instead of learning through trial-n-error on your own - on your own dime. trust me, I have done it both ways - and I’d always prefer to learn on someone else’s dime. Having someone look over your shoulder may not be a bad thing - especially if that someone can correct or intervene before you really screw something up. overcoming introversion is easier than you think.
