Trying to get into HD 362

Well there’s this really popular class here at Cornell, HD 362 or Human Bonding. It talks a lot about relationships and interactions between males and females. I’ve been told the class is very interesting and also provides a lot of useful information. A few of my friends are taking it right now. I really wanted to take this class but instead I opted for a class within my major, AEM 419 Strategic Thinking. AEM 419 is in the same time slot as HD 362, but so far, I’m not really liking AEM 419 and I’d rather join my friends over at HD 362. I can always take AEM 419 next year.

The problem is, the class is full, and it has a 600-person enrollment cap. I’ve emailed the professor and tomorrow I’m going to attend the class and speak to her afterwards. I’m crossing my fingers and really hoping I can get into the class.

Fall 04 About To Start

Well I got back to Ithaca today. The new semester starts on Thursday. It’s going to be a really busy semester. First of all, my schedule is very full. There’s actually one more class I really want to take but I can’t fit it. But on top of classes, I am conducting three new business ventures, to try and make some money. Then I have to set aside time everyday to work out so I reach my goal of losing 20 lbs. this semester. I also have to make sure my entertainment site (The Stuffbox) continues to garner new members and gain advertising revenue. This semester I’m also looking to join a club or two. After all that, I still have to set aside leisure time to play games, go out, etc.

It’s going to be a busy semester..

Forgot What I Was Gonna Say

I had a specific subject I was going to talk about but I suddenly forgot what it was when I started this entry. I always thought that was so weird. Like you’re thinking about something and before you say or write it, it just completely drops out of your mind. Bad neurons or something?

Bad Low Carb Food

What’s up with this stupid low carb craze? My biology professor said fad diets are never good - most of them are not even healthy. The Atkins diet actually isn’t good. And this is true with all fad diets: once you stop, you regain the weight you lost very fast.

Back to Normal

Well after two months of wasting away, I’m starting to get back into shape. I’ve been playing two hours of basketball everyday since Tuesday, when the doctor gave me the a-okay for my arm. I can resume most normal activities but I shouldn’t be doing strenuous activities for another month. That’s good because once the semester starts I can start lifting again.

It Came Today!!

My new computer came today! Man, this machine is NICE. I’m going to wait until tomorrow to set it up. I have to move a hard drive on my current computer to the new one. Then I have to format my old computer and set up all the programs on the new computer. It’ll probably take most of the whole day. But who cares! My new computer is here!

Here are the specs:

The Best Thing Happened Today

Okay, as some of you know, I took a summer class in June at Cornell. This class was COMM 263, called Organizational Writing. Overall, it was pretty easy. Anyway, there was a final project where we worked in groups. While waiting to hear our grade on the project (which we don’t have yet), one of my group members sends out an email saying grades were out. He was referring to our grades for the class. As more of a background, your GPA (grade point averages) is calculated based on the number of credits you have and the grade you receive for the class. So for example, a 4-credit class carries more weight than a 3-credit class when calculating the GPA. Now for the good part…

New Computer

A week ago I ordered a new computer from Dell. I emailed customer service today asking why it hasn’t been shipped and they said it will be put on priority. I actually ordered a refurbished system from Dell Outlet. Refurbished systems are computers that people have returned and get put back into production and testing. Even though nothing is wrong with it they just can’t sell it as new, so they sell it in Dell Outlet for big discounts. These babies usually sell fast but I was able to find a configuration I wanted at the right price. I had been scoping out the Dell website for weeks, just waiting for the right deal to come along.

It’s Summer Time!

Yesterday I started my summer class, COMM 263 - Organizational Writing. Seems like it’s going to be an easy class. It’s only 3 weeks long so it should go by pretty fast. The only thing that sucks is that it’s 9:00-11:45 in the morning. At least I can nap in the afternoon. It seems I’m incapable of sleeping before 3AM and I hate feeling groggy during class.

The Brenda Clucas Hecht Business Award

I’ve been studying all day and about 30 minutes ago I awoke from an hour-long nap. I check my email and discover great news! My group won an award for an entrepreneurship course we took this semester (AEM 325). It was a lot of work but I learned so much and it has become one of my favorite classes.

Anyway, my group won the Brenda Clucas Hecht Business Award and each of us is getting a nice plaque and $300! Isn’t that awesome? I’m so happy, this news has made my semester. And it’s not about the money, it’s more about the recognition for the work we did, for which I’m really proud. I must also mention my hard-working group mates, Matt Nixon and Steve Yu. This really was a team effort and we did some outstanding work.

I’m in such a good mood now. What a nice day.
