Spending Too Much Money

I had a hectic and fun weekend. Friday night, we went to Applebees and I got the unlimited riblets thing. Holy crap, I ate so much I was going to explode. I spent about $20 for dinner there. And then, like we do every weekend, I went over to my friend’s place to drink and play Texas Holdem. My friend makes a delicious drink we started calling “Victoria’s Secret”.

On Saturday, we went paintballing. I’ve always wanted to go paintballing because it seems really fun and this was my first time. There were two courses, a woods course and a “speedball” course. Both are really fun, although I was much better at speedball than the woods course. I didn’t think paintball would be so tiring! You’re always running around, crouching, kneeling, and crawling all while trying not to get shot. The worse hit I took came out of nowhere. I was crawling in the bushes completely laid out on the ground, and out of nowhere I get popped in the head. It left a bump and some blood on the hit spot. Anyway, breakfast and paintballing came to $35.

That same night, we went to Binghamton to party. At first I didn’t really want to go because I was really tired and my legs were really sore. But the enticing thought of good Japanese food changed my mind (there’s a good Japanese place called Fuji-san at Bing). Needless to say I also ate a lot there because I was really hungry. I spent another $22 there. Our group was going to a club that night and that would’ve cost another $10 just to get in (not including drinks), but me and two friends were too tired from paintball so we didn’t go.

The next morning (Sunday), or rather afternoon (1pm), we went to IHop’s and I had a delicious meal there as well, and spent $10. Believe it or not, I’ve never been to IHop’s but the menu looks great and my order was delicious. Then we drove back to Ithaca. It was one of my roommate’s birthday so we went to buy him new sneakers ($10 is my split) and cake (my split, $4). After we got home, I actually managed to work on homework and other things for about 2 hours, then proceeded to play Mario Kart with the guys and wait for dinner. Dinner was alright and I was actually able to drive in Ithaca for the first time. I had to drive my friend home so I drove my housemate’s car.

So that was my weekend and including some miscellaneous expenses, I spent a grand total of $110 over the last 3 days. It might not be much to some but it’s a lot for a poor college student! That’s about $65 over-budget for me. So I’ll have to trim off about $5 of spending per day for the next 2 weeks to make sure I don’t develop some kind of budget deficit. Yes, I’ve actually worked out a daily and monthly budget for myself. I can’t exactly just start throwing money around.
