When Will It End

Spring Break is over and immediately I’m back to having a huge workload. I have 3 prelims coming up and then 2 projects. After that, it’s finals. On top of everything, I have to figure out what courses to take next semester, which requirements for my major I’ve completed, and meet with my advisor. Not to mention I have to fill out my financial aid applications.

People always say in the summer you should make that time useful and get a job/internship. But I swear, if I don’t have the right balance between work and leisure I can’t stay sane. I NEED to have an extended period in the summer when I can feel more relaxed, rather than getting stressed with a full time summer job after stressing out all year over school work.

This summer, I plan on taking classes for 3 weeks then staying in Ithaca for about a month to work on a business I plan to start later in the year. Then I’ll go home for a month to relax. Or I’ll see what I can plan then. There’s a chance I could get hooked up with a finance-related internship that pays pretty well. If that’s the case, after the 3 weeks I may just go work.

I’m kind of preoccupied by my grades right now even though I keep telling myself I don’t care about them anymore but it keeps bothering me! I feel like screaming. I don’t think grades will dictate my future or indicate my level of intelligence, but there’s so much pressure and focus on grades around you, it makes you care. Grades are simply a way to land that first job after graduation. I plan on venturing off on my own after college but without that job lined up, there’s a much greater level of insecurity for me. That’s what’s bothering me. That level of insecurity, risk, and unclear path bothers me because I’m usually a person that needs to have things planned and thought out.
