My resolutions for 2014 are:
- 6-pack abs.
- Be on time (meetings, appointments, social events, etc.).
- Go on double black diamond in snowboarding. (did this surprisingly early, picked up snowboarding pretty quickly)
- Sleep more – ideally at least 8 hours every night.
I actually did pretty well on last year’s resolutions, considering I usually don’t complete any of my resolutions. The results of last year’s resolutions:
- Cut 15 lbs of fat.
I lost 20 pounds over a 4 month period, from 180 lbs to 160 lbs. I probably added about 1-3 lbs of muscle so I likely lost more than 20 lbs of fat.
- Learn how to do 3 new things.
I didn’t quite complete this but I did learn 2 new things. I learned to snowboard and a new somewhat aggressive approach for picking up women (works surprisingly well once you get comfortable with it).
- Read more books.
I read Ender’s Game and a few of the latest Dan Brown novels and many graphic novels AKA comics (hey, it’s still reading).
Microsoft is still a behemoth but I think they’re taking all the wrong approaches for many of their biggest products like Windows, Office, and Xbox. This is all my opinion of course, they can do whatever the F they want to do.

I’m in the finals of my fantasy basketball league and I’ve got Tony Parker, Tim Duncan, Lebron James, and Chris Bosh on my team and these guys are getting rested in real life in preparation for the playoffs. It’s killing in my fantasy matchup. I actually have a pretty good chance of winning but with my most productive players resting, I’m kind of doomed. Boo.
I’m going to be honest and say that I think the 2nd of half of this season of The Walking Dead wasn’t that great. It wasn’t bad but I liked the first half much better.
On the other hand, Game of Thrones is back and oh man, it’s as good as ever. I love how every line of dialogue has so much meaning and purpose (whether it’s truthful, or more often than not deceitful). I don’t know, just the way they speak, it’s very enthralling. And they REALLY know how to keep you excited for the next episode.
Have a read: New York Knicks: Looking back on how the offseason plan failed
When they let Jeremy Lin go, I was kind of pissed. But then they went and built the OLDEST team in the NBA and somehow thought they had a shot at the championship in an age where the sport is more athletic than ever. And they just kept getting older, adding a retiree like Rasheed Wallace and recently, Kenyon Martin. I am absolutely shocked to see Camby is getting $13m over 3 years. What the hell were they smoking?
Look at guys like Danilo Gallinari and David Lee, young guys that showed a lot of promise, that the Knicks traded away. The Knicks thought they could pull a Miami Heat and just buy stars and somehow win a championship. Problem is Anthony, Stoudemire, and Chandler are not on the same level as James, Wade, and Bosh. I like Tyson Chandler but I didn’t like the Melo and Stoudemire acquisitions from the beginning. Melo had a great coach and good team in Dnever. He never showed he could lift his team and never got past the first round. And there is good reason Stoudemire’s contract is uninsured – that should’ve been a big red flag. Well now the Knicks see how wonderful those knees of his are.
I wouldn’t be surprised at all if the Knicks goes down again in the first round of the playoffs. The Knicks showed a lot of promise early on this season, but they have an incredible knack for lifting their fans expectations, only to fail completely.
So I found out today Google is killing Reader. I’ve been using Reader every day for a LONG time, I can’t even remember. It’s pretty much the best way I know of to browser through a lot of news sources in one place. People are saying RSS is a dying consumer technology and this just proves it. But how else do you pull multiple sources into one place? I ain’t going to visit 100 websites every morning when I’m sipping my coffee. I’m sure I’ll find another service to replace Reader; it just sucks that a good product is getting killed because there aren’t enough smart people to use it.
So I just read that the new Star Wars movie being directed by J.J. Abrams will feature the original cast of Harrison Ford, Mark Hamill and Carrie Fisher. No offense, but these actors are old. How are you going to reach a new generation of movie-goers using those 3 in an action, sci-fi film? I’m hoping they play supporting roles and the leads are younger actors.
Chinese Lunar New Year everbody! I’m very glad that NYC got spared the worse of Nemo. Really wasn’t that bad at all. I was worried it would ruin New Year’s Eve, that we’d all get snowed in.
I got up in the morning, or actually noon, I should say, looked out and the sun was beaming on unblemished snow. That was when Bruno Mar’s “Marry You” came into my head and has been stuck there all damn day. “It’s a beautiful night (in my head it was “day”)… We’re looking for something dumb to do… Hey baby, I think I wanna marry youuu.” It was mainly because of the first line, but I didn’t even get the lyrics right in my head.
The Mercedes-Benz CLA has really caught my eye, after seeing it in the Superbowl commercial. It’s a beautiful car and quite affordable for a Mercedes-Benz. I’ve been researching a new car and was considering a Honda Accord or a crossover SUV but I think I might wait until the fall for the CLA.
Watching the Rockets v. Nuggets game. The announcers are lulling me to sleep. #badatyourjob
